- Judo Games -
Games can be used for many different reasons, from just having fun to getting judoka to think about what they are doing. Below is a list of a few that we sometimes use at the club, and some others that have been suggested to us. When ever games are used the instructor should be sure that there is enough room, and that those playing them don't get carryed away.

How To Play Skills Gained
Bull Dog
All students line up and one end of the mat in the kneeling position, execpt for the catchers. The number of catchers used would depend on the number of students. Upon the call to begin, the students try to get from one end of the mat to the other. The catcher try to turn them over and get them into a hold, and keep them there for 5 seconds. Once someone have been cought in a hold for 5 seconds, they are out of the game, but if they namage to escape before 5, then they continue until they are held for 5 seconds. The winner is the last one to be cought. This game encourage students to move about and to try and escape from holds and to make it harder for people to get them into a hold.
Catch A Tail
All students remove their belts and tuck it in the back of their trowers to hang almost to the ground. Once in place, only the catch can touch the belt. Upon the call to begin the catcher tries to pull the belt, or tail, from all the other students. The winner is the last one left with their tail. This game helps show the dangers of turning your back on your opponent.

If you know any other games that we can add to this list then why not e-mail them to us and we maybe able to add them.
